To market to market, to buy ... you'll be surprised at what you can buy at Chesterfield Market, it's just a matter of finding it among more than 200 stalls. This traditional open air market has been going since at least 1165, when the Sheriff of Derbyshire recorded an account of £1 2s 7d from the market of Chesterfield. The town was granted a Market Charter in 1204, but early in the 1220's it outgrew its original site near the Church and moved to where you see it today.Market days are every Monday, Friday and Saturday all year round, Flea Market every Thursday, Farmers' Market on second Thursday of every month and a car boot sale in Holywell Cross Car Park every Sunday.
